Emerging talent
The main objective of the company is to create new, small-scale musical theatre works, this has been at the heart of the company from the outset and was very influenced by the success of De Profundis. However, a wider integral part of the company’s ethos is to nurture and hopefully inspire emerging talent, whether it’s performing, writing or devising and across all disciplines, singing, acting & dancing.
The Mechancis Theatre
Our affiliation with the University Centre & Mechanics Performing Arts means that we have the use of their excellent facilities including rehearsal spaces, tech support and use the stunning Mechanics Theatre. We are so fortunate that we can realise our creative work in such a well-equipped space.
Industry Placements
The main thrust of education work is offering a meaningful and rich Industry placement to students studying on the BA (Hons) Performance Industry programme. We give the students the opportunity to work on a creative project of either their choice or a new project the company wants to develop, ranging from new plays, musicals, concept pieces to dance works. We offer guidance both professionally and creatively, considering the process of developing an idea to a final product. We allow students to experience industry standard practice, developing their professionalism, their performance and creative skills, their understanding of marketing, their technical know-how and sense of identity as an emerging practitioner.
Community work
Our last project (Selkie – A Sea Woman) was commissioned by Creative Wakefield and Wakefield Council and was featured at WordFest2021 and the wider Festival of the Earth. It was performed at WX (Wakefield’s former Market Hall) on Saturday the 30th October 2021 and was a free event. This was our first collaboration with Creative Wakefield and has resulted in us now taking our work out in to the wider community in the Wakefield area. This is a branch of our work that we hope to expand on in the future.
